Music at New Hanover

Music is an important part in the life of the congregation. In recognition of our Lutheran heritage and the significance music plays in our worship services, the following music ministry opportunities are available for adults and children. New members are always welcome!

J.A.M.  (Jesus and Me) Choir
Ages 3 ½ to Grade 5 . This choir sings at approximately eight services each year at the 9:00am service. Eve. Rehearsals are held on Sunday mornings in the choir room during school year from 11:00 – 11:30am. These young singers work on developing singing skills while deepening their faith as they learn anthems, hymns, and liturgy. The rehearsals are fast paced and fun!

KFC (Kids for Christ Youth Choir)
Grades 6-12. Rehearsals are held in the sanctuary on select Sunday mornings from 11:00-11:30am during the school year. The KFC Choir sings once a month and concentrates on singing Praise music

Grace Band

This small group of consists of singers, keyboard, guitar and percussion. They typically sing three times a month through the year. The musical genre is praise songs. Rehearsals are scheduled as needed.

Chancel  Choir
Adults post-high school and older. Chancel Choir rehearsals are held Wednesdays from 6:30-7:45pm during the school year. The choir sings weekly at our 9am service as well as special services throughout the year.

Handbell Choir
For all adults middle school and older. This choir plays three octaves (36 notes) of bells and four octaves of handchimes. This choir typically plays once a month at the 9am service.. The Handbell Choir practices Thursday evenings from 6:15-7:45.

Other Musical Opportunities
Beyond vocal choirs, persons with special singing or instrumental skills can present solo, duet, and small ensemble music throughout the season

Summer Music Program at New Hanover

Hymn sings are held once a month during the summer season where congregants can select favorite hymns to sing.

Each Sunday during June, July and August, while the choir is on hiatus, we feature a variety of special music presented by individual singers or instrumentalists.
