Growing food, faith, and fellowship to enrich lives.

Composting Clinic

All are invited to join us to learn about composting which is a natural process of recycling organic matter (food scraps, leaves, and more) into fertilizer that can enrich soil and plants. Food scraps is the largest component of landfilled municipal solid waste, thus composting these materials reduces this waste.

David Ryle from Trellis for Tomorrow will not only teach us about composting, but he will also show us how to do it! Those joining us should wear clothes and footwear that could possibly get dirty. Gloves, shovels, forks, and rakes are optional.

What is the Garden of Hope

In partnership with Trellis for Tomorrow, New Hanover Evangelical Lutheran Church is a Partner Site within their Food For All raised bed garden program. Through this program, NHELC has become home to a 3,000 square foot garden surrounded by 5,000 square feet of permanent deer fencing. Trellis for tomorrow helps us to oversee the design and installation of the garden. Once the garden is installed, Trellis staff also provides garden instruction and guidance, add an irrigation system, provide garden plantings, perform garden checks, and share expertise.
