Born in Reading, Barbara is a near-life-long member of New Hanover Evangelical Lutheran Church. She
was active in the youth groups, served as a Sunday School teacher and officer, Sunday School pianist, a
member of the handbell choir and vocal choirs for over forty years. During her early work years she was
employed as a secretary in the Nursing Office of Pottstown Memorial Medical Center. She then
accepted the position on the staff of New Hanover Lutheran Church as Administrative Assistant, a
position she held for 32 years. After becoming certified in Medical Billing and Coding, she returned to
employment in the Operating Room Department at Pottstown Memorial Medical Center, now
Pottstown Hospital/Tower Health. She retired in 2019.
In 2017, Barbara again joined the staff of New Hanover Lutheran Church in the capacity of Handbell
Choir Director, bringing over 40 years of handbell choir and solo handbell ringing experience. She is also
the Office Administrator at St. James Lutheran Church, Pottstown.
Barbara lives in New Berlinville with her husband, Carl. They have two sons, Steven and Brian, and two
grandchildren, Erin and Alex.
In addition to her love for the work of the church and her passion for handbells, Barbara enjoys planting
and nurturing flowers, creating photo books, and spending time with her family.
